These terms cover your use of velvetsylph.com and anything you buy from us. Velvet Sylph is operated by Velvet Sylph LLC. Where these terms say “we” or “us”, that is who you are dealing with.
Agreeing to these terms
Placing an order, making an account or using the site means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not order.
We may update these terms. The date at the top tells you when they last changed, and the version live on this page at the time you order is the one that governs that order.
Who can buy
You need to be at least 18, and old enough to enter a contract where you live. You also need to give accurate billing and delivery details. We ship within the United States.
An independent house
Velvet Sylph LLC is an independent fragrance house. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to any of the brands or fragrances we name, and we do not claim to be.
We name the fragrance that inspired each of ours because it is the clearest honest way to tell you how something smells. Those names, and the names of the houses that own them, are the trademarks of their respective owners. We use them only to describe scent character, never to suggest that our bottle is theirs or that they had any hand in making it.
Every Velvet Sylph fragrance is our own composition, blended and bottled by us. We do not decant, rebottle, dilute or resell another house’s product. A fragrance inspired by another will smell like a relative of it, not a copy of it, and it will wear differently on you than the original does.
Eligibility and Requirements for Purchasing
We sell 50 mL extrait de parfum, hand-blended and bottled in the USA. We describe each one as accurately as we can, including its notes and how it tends to behave.
Two honest caveats. Fragrance is made from natural and synthetic materials whose character shifts slightly between batches, so small variation is normal and is not a fault. And scent is chemistry against your skin, so the same bottle genuinely smells different on different people. That is what the sixty days are for.
Colours on your screen are approximate.
Using our fragrances safely
Our fragrances are for external use, on skin and clothing.
- Fragrance is a common cause of skin sensitivity. If your skin is reactive, put a little on your inner arm first and wait a day.
- Stop using it if you get irritation, and speak to a doctor if it does not settle.
- Keep it away from your eyes.
- Keep it out of reach of children.
- Perfume is alcohol based and therefore flammable. Keep it away from open flame, and store it out of direct sun and heat.
Nothing we sell is a medicine, and nothing we say about it is medical advice. Our fragrances are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent anything.
Prices and payment
Prices are in US dollars and include our costs but not shipping, which is shown at checkout, or any tax that applies to your order. Prices can change, but a change never applies to an order you have already placed.
We take payment through Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number. By paying you confirm you are entitled to use that payment method.
Occasionally a price or a description is wrong. If the error is obvious and material, we may cancel the affected order and refund you in full rather than honour it, and we will tell you why.
Orders
Your order is an offer to buy. The contract forms when we confirm dispatch, not when you click pay.
We can decline or cancel an order, including where the item is out of stock, where we cannot verify the payment or delivery details, or where we think it is fraud or resale. If we cancel, you get a full refund.
Shipping and delivery
We dispatch in one to two business days. Shipping within the US is free on orders over $120. Delivery times after dispatch belong to the carrier and are estimates, not promises.
Risk passes to you on delivery. If a parcel arrives damaged, or does not arrive at all, write to us and we will sort it out.
Returns and refunds
You have sixty days from delivery to change your mind, including on a bottle you have used or emptied. The full terms, including who pays return postage, are on our returns page, and they form part of these terms.
Your account
If you make an account, keep your login details to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at contact@velvetsylph.com if you think someone else has got into it. We can suspend or close an account that is being used for fraud or abuse.
Email from us
If you join The Letter we will write to you about new scents, restocks and occasional offers. You can unsubscribe from any of those emails and we will stop. Order and delivery emails are part of the service and are not marketing, so those continue.
Our content
The words, photographs, artwork, design and code on this site belong to Velvet Sylph LLC. You are welcome to share links and ordinary excerpts. Please do not copy our product copy, imagery or design wholesale, or use our name and marks as if they were yours.
What we do not promise
We work hard on this site, but we do not promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors. Except where the law says otherwise, the site and everything on it is provided as it is.
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not let us limit. Your statutory rights as a consumer stand whatever these terms say.
Limits on liability
Subject to the paragraph above, our total liability to you for any order is limited to what you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit or opportunity.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, and the courts of Tennessee have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer, this does not take away protections you have under the law of the state where you live.
If part of this does not hold
If a court finds any part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still stands.

If something has gone wrong, please write to contact@velvetsylph.com before anything else. Nearly everything is fixable by email, and we would rather fix it than argue about it.
